Core Hospital 4

As architect of the Core Hospital concept, we contribute to discussions about the hospital of the future and massive changes in health care and an ageing society.

Concentration of complex and acute care and distribution of common care changes the Dutch care landscape. According to the The Council for Public Health and Health Care, the number of hospitals with a full Emergency can be halved. The Netherlands has enough to 51 fully fledgedhospitals, so-called “core hospitals,” says the Management Council in its report of February. These are fully equipped hospitals with a heavy intensive care. Together with surrounding ‘satellite hospitals’ for low complex, plannable care and other care facilities like a care hotel and healthcare centres in neighbourhoods, they offer a healthcare network.
