Excited to design the redevelopment of the Jaap Eden IJsbaan in Amsterdam!
3 August 2022
This summer, VenhoevenCS architecture+urbanism has been commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam and the Jaap Eden IJsbaan to envision the famous ice rink’s future!
The Jaap Eden IJsbaan has a longstanding history within the ice skating sport; it is renowned throughout the world. The complex has been a people’s favourite in Amsterdam for decades, welcoming busy crowds on both the outdoor and indoor rink.
VenhoevenCS is proud to design the Jaap Eden IJsbaan’s redevelopment. We will be taking the input from local residents, ice skating clubs and the scouting into account, in order to make the redesigned complex fit for future use and events. As an Amsterdam based office for architecture and urbanism, with a strong portfolio in sports buildings, working on the IJsbaan feels close to home in several ways.
