ZOË Amsterdam wins the Nature-Inclusive Building Award 2025

ZOË Amsterdam wins the Nature-Inclusive Building Award 2025!In Amsterdam’s Sluisbuurt, a new kind of urban living is taking root.
More than just a residential building, ZOË is a living ecosystem – a miniature nature reserve woven into the fabric of the city.

Eight rooftop gardens, a quay garden, and a porous façade provide space for plants, birds, insects, and bats. But perhaps most importantly, space for nature to be wild and free.

As the jury noted: “A building where façades breathe and rooftops live – a place that proves nature doesn’t have to stay outside the city.”
We’re proud to receive this award – and even prouder of the collaborative effort behind it.
At ZOË, nature-inclusivity is more than a design feature. It’s embedded in how the building will be used, managed, and shared as a learning environment.

With thanks to our partners: DS Landschapsarchitecten (Amsterdam), AM Gebiedsontwikkeling, BAM Wonen

We also want to thank Vogelbescherming Nederland, who initiated the award, and of course the jury for their careful and considered evaluation:Marit Janse (De Urbanisten),
Gert-Jan Koopman (Natuurpro), Brigit Gerritse (Dutch Green Building Council, and Didier El-Bacha (HOP.architectuur).
