Corda Campus Masterplan

On February 24th, the Masterplan 2.0 VenhoevenCS and Geosted developed for Corda Campus in Hasselt (BE), was presented. VenhoevenCS partner Danny Esselman and project architect Caspar Lysen attended the press conference in Hasselt organized by Corda Campus, part of LRM Group. The new masterplan meets the client’s ambitions to further develop the current campus into a leading Euregional technology and innovation hotspot.

By focusing on a green, healthy and engaging environment, the plan proposes a campus that fosters community, facilitates interaction and adds value – not only for the people working and staying on campus, but also for the city of Hasselt and the region. A mixed program of small start-ups, larger companies, research, education, leisure, sports and culture makes this campus an inspiring and safe place to be, at all hours of the day.

“Connections are at the heart of our approach to campus development. Knowledge exchange, better public transport, connecting to nature, the modal shift, a walkable campus. This masterplan is a prime example of that vision.”
– Danny Esselman, VenhoevenCS architecture+urbanism, during the press conference on 24 February

Corda Campus is located next to Kiewit train station and the major northern access road to Hasselt. This offers the potential for excellent multi-modal accessibility and sustainable last mile solutions, as well as for connections with Hasselt city centre and knowledge hubs in the region.

On the campus itself, open plinths of the campus buildings encourage visibility and meaningful interaction. With green, intuitive routes between the buildings the walkable campus invites its users to move around in an inspiring setting. The VenhoevenCS and Geosted Corda Campus builds a sustainable and enjoyable environment for knowledge to grow, businesses to thrive, and people to collaborate.
