Energy-neutral Sports Building for Erasmus University Rotterdam opened!
30 September 2022
Festively and sportively opened: Sports Building at Campus Woudestein for Erasmus University Rotterdam!
Featuring an energy-neutral design, stacked sports halls, and a lively public interior fashioned from circularly harvested, re-used materials, we saw ‘Sports Building’ come to life as a solid and playful campus entrance that stimulates social and healthy student life.
According to the theme, students, employees and (top) athletes, kicked off the opening day with an adventurous obstacle run from the old to the new sports building. Later, at a public debate, led by professional football player and podcast maker Bart Vriends, they spoke about the importance of this sports accommodation:
“With this sustainable and state-of-the-art sports facility on our campus, we encourage students and staff to exercise more, and we are giving substance to the transition to a vibrant international campus.” – said Ellen van Schoten, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board of Erasmus University.
